Do I have a valid CRC with VSC? 

We can accept CRCs with VSCs that have been completed 6 months previous to the day.  So if today is October 15th, we will accept completed checks from May 15th until present.

If you have completed a CRC and VSC for MEI (or HNS) in the past 3 years we will have this on record and your check is considered valid. Please note CRC/VSC expire in August.

How do I obtain a CRC with VSC?

If you require a CRC with VSC (Coach/On-Ice Helper/Manager/Dressing Room Chaperone) then you will require an invitation from the Risk Management Coordinator (risk@metroeastinferno.ca).

All applicable volunteers must complete a Criminal Record Check (CRC) including a Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC).

Criminal Record Checks can be completed at your local police (HRP) or your local RCMP detachment. These can only be processed in the community where the the person resides.

If you are having your CRC and VSC check completed through your local RCMP detachement or Halifax Regional Police, Hockey Nova Scotia has a letter that you can bring with you requesting the checks to be completed, please click here. Please use this letter when you have your checks processed, as it may also help reduce the fees associated with the cost of the CRC.

I have a completed CRC with VSC, who should I give it to and how?

If you have a physical copy then please contact the Risk Management Coordinator (risk@metroeastinferno.ca).

Also a reminder that when you have completed a CRC (and VSC), you can share it with various groups that you volunteer with.
